Does growing long hair just amount to patience?

Well to answer that...

Yes and no. No? I say this because if you think that you can grow your hair long by a simple magic pill or shampoo, well its just not true. There is a large factor that plays in your hair's potential to grow and that is genetics. If your hair has always grown slow, its probably in your genes. I am actually one of those unfortunate people. That in part is what inspired me to write this post!

So, does this mean there is nothing we can do to promote hair growth? Absolutely not! There is in fact so much you can do to to reach your goal of beautiful, long hair and I am going to share with you just a few things I learned and did to help me get on the road to growing my hair long, faster and healthier.

I think there are two major aspects of growing long, beautiful hair. The first is a healthy scalp. I say this because this is where the hair growth starts, at the follicle. And you can actually encourage hair growth by stimulating your scalp. Some ways to to this is by a gentle scalp massage. Another way is by using a shampoo that stimulates your scalp with ingredients such as mint or tea tree oil. Aside from scalp stimulation it is a great reminder to heep a healthy diet! Getting enough water and the right nutrients greatly influence healthy hair growth.

The second way is to make sure you keep the hair you have healthy! This may seem obvious but it plays a huge role in growing out your hair. There is no way to reverse the damage to your hair and your only option will be to trim off the bad stuff. This is not going to help. Regular trims of course are very important to maintain a healthy appearance, but cutting it too much too often won't help either.

Also try to avoid using heating tools like blow dryers, straighteners, and curling irons. This can be hard to do, especially if you're trying to grow out a bad do, but these tools do so much damage to your hair you'll need that trim sooner than you know it. Don't forget to use a heat protection product if you must! And speaking of products, tryto use the best you can get. I've personally seen the difference it makes between drugstore brand shampoos and conditioner and those from the salon. I have noticed a huge improvement in my own hair since switching to a salon brand.

So to sum it up, if you really want to have beautiful, long hair as soon as possible...

Take care of your hair! Be patience! Be healthy! And most of all remember growing your hair out is an investment. You may have to make some sacrifices, but in the end you're going to have just what you wanted. Beautiful, long, and healthy hair!
